The Butterfly Effect
Chaos is just a pattern we haven’t learned to read yet.
This piece is about finding order in chaos. I combined old engraving techniques from hundreds of years ago with modern computer-generated imagery to show how past and present can coexist. The butterfly shape in the center is made from skulls and intricate patterns. It represents change and transformation—the idea that everything is connected. The title ‘The Butterfly Effect’ comes from the scientific concept that small actions can create huge consequences over time. The mirrored symmetry makes you look for patterns and meaning in what might seem random. It asks the question: is there hidden order in the chaos around us? By mixing hand-crafted historical textures with precise digital geometry, I wanted to show that both the old and the new have something to say about how we see the world.
Everything is in black and white, creating strong contrasts. The left and right sides mirror each other, like a Rorschach inkblot test. I created this by combining scans of vintage engravings with digital elements—no AI image generation was used.
